Book Signing by Environmental Advocate and Historian: Author Dave Dempsey Mackinac Room

9:30a.m.-10:30a.m. Book Signing by Environmental Advocate and Historian: Author Dave Dempsey Wednesday, August 30, 9:30a.m.-10:30a.m. Mackinac Room

Dave Dempsey will be available to sign copies of three of his books.

Governor William G. Milliken: Michigan's Passionate Moderate is the story of the forces and times that shaped the Millikens and the legacy they have left to the people of Michigan and the nation. William G. Milliken left the Michigan Governor's office more than twenty years ago, but he is remembered as a landmark in Michigan political history. He not only served as Michigan governor longer than anyone - nearly 14 years - but as a Republican, reached across traditional political partisan divides to become a friend of the City of Detroit, champion of the environment, defender of the disadvantaged and promoter of civil liberties.

Governor Milliken will receive a lifetime achievement award from the People of the State of Michigan at Wetlands 2006 Thursday afternoon.

Other Books by Dave Dempsey

On the Brink; the Great Lakes in the 21st Century
Ruin and Recovery: Michigan's Rise as a Conservation Leader

Dave Dempsey currently serves as Great Lakes Policy Advisor for Clean Water Action, a national citizens' organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentally-safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work. He is also a policy consultant to the Michigan Environmental Council, a coalition of over 65 environmental organizations with a combined total of more than 200,000 members. MEC has provided a collective voice for the environment at the State Capitol since 1980, developing public policy, educating elected officials and the general public, and providing technical assistance and support to member organizations.

All three books will be available for purchase during the book signing.
