Call
for Papers for Wetlands 2008 Extended to Thursday, May 15
The Call for Papers for Wetlands 2008 has been extended to Thursday,
May 15 2008. There was a great response to the initial call for
papers. However, there is still some conference space available
in the concurrent sessions for additional presentations and we
have received requests for some additional time both to submit
papers and distribute the invitation more broadly. Thank you to
everyone who has submitted an abstract for Wetlands 2008; Wetlands
and Global Climate Change. In our schedule we are committed to
making decisions on accepting or declining abstracts by May 16
and ASWM intends to stay as close to that timeline as possible.
Therefore, we encourage individuals who plan to submit before
May 15 to do so as soon as possible so that we can work toward
meeting our original commitment.
The Association
of State Wetland Managers, Inc., the Pacific Northwest Chapter
of the Society of Wetland Scientists, the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and the Oregon Department of State Lands invite you to
submit a paper for Wetlands 2008. The overall goal of this conference
is to help wetland professionals in the public and private sectors
1) gain a better understanding of the challenges created by climate
change and 2) identify discrete activities and actions to take
to reduce and mitigate impacts on wetlands and water resources
as well as communities. The conference will also address ongoing
changes and challenges in wetlands and water resources management.

Abstract
Submission: Please
submit an abstract of 250 words or less addressing scientific,
legal and/or management issues specific to one of the topics listed
below. Please submit abstracts in word format to Sharon at abstractswetlands2008@aswm.org
by Thursday, May 15, 2008. Visit
the main conference page for Wetlands 2008 at http://www.aswm.org/calendar/wetlands2008/index.htm
for additional information. Notification of abstract acceptance
is Friday, May 16.
Preference will be given in abstract
selection to papers that demonstrate practical applications of
information; lessons learned, and solution/results-oriented topics.
Presentations are 20 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for
questions and answers and papers should be substantial enough
to merit the time provided.
