Two Albany lawmakers plan to ask the legislature to improve the way Oregon regulates wetlands. Sen. Frank Morse and Rep. Andy Olson, Republicans both, say they were prompted in part by a controversy over property near Lebanon. There, a wetland delineation expired after five years and a new one by the Department of State Lands showed far more wetlands than the previous one. The owner was forced to pay more than $600,000 to a “wetlands bank” to make up for ground that had been disturbed or built on. For full story, click here.
