Job: Environmental Educators (On-call), CA

Watsonville Wetlands Watch, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and fostering the appreciation of the wetlands of the Pajaro Valley, California seeks several on-call Environmental Educators to assist in leading hands-on wetland-based programming. Preferred candidates will have a college degree or be pursuing a degree related to environmental science and/or studies and have a background in outdoor teaching- specifically utilizing inquiry-based learning methods.

Watsonville Wetlands Watch provides a fun and supportive work environment and we are looking for team players who are creative, passionate about the environment and love working with youth ages 10-18. We provide outdoor education for students of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District intermittently throughout the school year during the school day and after school. We are looking for educators with flexible schedules who are willing to help teach in the classroom and on field trips to the Watsonville wetlands on an on-call basis. Activities generally last about 2-3 hours and cover themes including water quality, habitats, biodiversity, food webs, and wetland ecology. Educators are expected to attend paid trainings and help with the set up and clean up of activities. They will also be required to get fingerprinted thought the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. Compensation is $50 per field trip.

Wetlands and Water Resources, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager Environmental Scientist/Planner for their office in San Rafael, California. They are looking for a talented and motivated individual with work experience and academic background in wetland or aquatic ecosystem science, or ecological engineering and environmental planning to jump directly into projects and project management. The qualified candidate will possess excellent skills in quantitative analysis, writing, interdisciplinary integration and creative thinking, and interpersonal communications. The qualified candidate will have a bachelors and ideally a graduate degree in natural resources, hydrology/geomorphology, ecology, environmental planning, landscape architecture, or engineering with an emphasis on natural resource management and ecosystem restoration. A minimum of 10 years (with bachelors degree only) or 5 years (with graduate degree) of professional experience, including project management expertise, is essential. Experience in the San Francisco Bay and Delta, and knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and regulatory programs strongly preferred. Computer skills essential, GIS desirable.
