1. Consolidating Permitting.

We have an assumed federal 404 program so we have streamlined the permitting process in that manner. We are in the process of Rule change to make the administrative process the same for all of our land use permitting program.

 2. Pre-application Process & Communication.

We have a call center that answers all FWW calls everyday. They also do some of the less complicated pre-application meetings.

 3.  On-line applications.

We developed an on-line submission process but have not turned the system on. We are in the process of working on a contract to develop a more sophisticated on-line process as detailed in the minutes where we use GIS tools to assist in the submission.

4. Utilizing Science & Technology (i.e. Wetland maps, GPS).

As noted above we are in the process of developing an on-line submission system which has a component to the submission process where an applicant can access GIS layers to analyzes project impacts. We also have a fairly advanced data management system where project managers can communicate via their desk top computers and assign tasks to various offices. We have not taken advantage of all the systems capabilities and we are now engaged in a process to load standard letters, permit conditions etc.

5.  Data management.

The State of New Jersey utilizes the New Jersey Environmental Management System (NJEMS) to receive, process and store our data. We are hopeful with the on-set of electronic submissions we can store the entire file in the database and no longer have to store paper.
